The city of La Rochelle is located by the Atlantic Ocean, in western France. It is famous for its history and its nice weather all year round

Founded in the 10th century and first called Rupella, it has evolved into one of the largest marina in Europe, hosting more than 5,000 pleasure boats. 

Of course, it host several large boat building companies. 

La Rochelle is a touristic hot spot thanks to the beaches and beautiful landmarks such as l'Ile de Ré (3km away), Fort Boyard and the inland country of Cognac

La Rochelle host every year one of the biggest music festivals in France, "francofolies". 

La Rochelle has 75,000 inhabitants and with suburbs and nearby towns around 215,000 people. 

Access :

Coming to La Rochelle is easy, by train from Paris (2 to 3 hours by TGV)

By plane : there is a local airport (La Rochelle-Ile de Ré) and airports of Nantes and Bordeaux are less than a two hour drive away. 

 

La Rochelle is "bicycle friendly", the whole city has adapted cycling lanes.
